Prayers for Rachel

I hope that along with the giving you have been doing, that you are also remembering to pray for Rachel and her boys.  She could use some extra prayers right now.  I got a message from her earlier this evening, she has been admitted to the ICU.  Rachel has diabetes and sometimes, just the slightest bit of sickness can send her into a tailspin!  I guess she's had a bit of a sinus infection, and it's just done her in.  So please keep Rachel and her boys in your prayers.  I'll be sure to update as soon as I know anything!!

Thank you again for all the giving and the prayers!!

Today's Giving!

Today's Giving!

I've had a rough day- it started last night with a leak in my hallway/dining room.  When I woke up this morning, it was much worse and I had to pull everything out of the hall closet about 10 minutes before having to walk out the door to work.  Not exactly how I wanted to start my morning (at 5:50am, mind you!)  I had a long day at work.  I came home tired.  I wanted to cook dinner and relax.  Instead, I was met with a large, loud fan in the middle of my living room, and more wetness in Ashlyn's closet.  *sigh*  It's been a rough and long day.

Then I went to get the mail.  Inside was one lone envelope.  Inside that envelope was a $5 dollar bill.  *sigh*  God is so wonderful.  My heart was lifted.  More blessings!  I sat down at the computer.  I pulled up my email.  As it was loading, I said a little prayer- Lord, please let there be more blessings in my email today. There in my inbox sat one lone email.  Someone had donated $10.00- more blessings!  My heart was lifted even more.

So- there we have it, today's giving total is $15.00. I am thrilled!  It was a much needed ending to my rough day.  God is so good- even on the bad days!

Total giving so far??  $125.00 along with a board game and Lego set!!  Isn't being a blessing an amazing feeling?  Will YOU be a blessing this Christmas season?  If you'd like to help, you can donate through www.paypal.com using the email Christmasblssng@gmail.com

This brings our total giving amount to $110.00, along with the game and Lego's!  God is so amazing!  Let's keep the blessings coming!

Today's Giving!

I am still finding the blessing in seeing others' willingness to be a blessing to a family in need.

Today I received 2 $5 gift cards to Target and a $5 donation.  That brings today's giving total to $15.00!

Total giving to date $85.00!!  I am so excited to watch this amount grow!!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far, I am finding myself blessed through this whole process- I hope you are as well.  It really is better to GIVE than it is to receive!

Today's Giving!

I am amazed!  You, my friends, are so generous and loving- I am just amazed.

Today, I've taken in a total of  $70.00  in donations on Paypal.  I've got 2 friends who are sending money via snail mail (when I receive it, it will be added to the total) and one friend who is sending a gift card!

Let's keep it up- will YOU be a blessing this Christmas season!?

Donate through Paypal using the following email address  Christmasblssng@gmail.com

How can YOU help??

So, now that you know a little about what Operation Christmas Blessing 2010 is all about- you might be saying to yourself "That sounds like a great mission, but how can I get involved?"

First, you can PRAY!  That is really the easiest thing we can all do- pray!  God know's Rachels specific needs, so just lift her up in your prayers as often as God brings it to your mind.

Second, you can GIVE!  I've set up a paypal account specifically for this project. I'm only asking you to give $1- if all of my Facebook Friends were to give $1, we could raise just over $300 for this dear family for their Christmas needs!  What a blessing that would be!  But why limit what God can do?  Maybe you can give $5, or $10, or MORE!?!  All monies that are collected (and I will be keeping a running total here on the blog) will be used in blessing this family for the Christmas season!

I asked Rachel what her boys would like for Christmas- here is the list she provided me, and what simple lists they are!!

Ezekiel- age 9
Legos
Board games
Star Wars stuff
Sketchbooks

Timothy- age 7
Transformers
MagnaDoodle type drawing toy
Bionicles
Sketchbooks

Simon- age 5
Hotwheels with cases "so they don't get lost" his words, not mine :)
Action figures.  It doesn't really matter *what* figures, he just likes pretend games with them.
Little Kid board games
Sketchbooks

And lastly, PRAY some more!  When you think of it, pray for this little mission I have going.  I know it might not seem like a big deal to others, but I really want this to be successful!  So many people have been such a blessing to me over the past years, I want to be do something to be a blessing in a big way to someone else- and I know I can't do it alone!  But I know God can do so much more- so, pray some more!  I would really like this to become an annual project, to find one family every Christmas season and "bless" them.

So- if you can give- no matter how much or how little- you can do so at http://www.paypal.com/.  The email address is Christmasblssng@gmail.com  I will be taking donations between now and December 15, 2010.  If you would like to send something to help, but can't donate through paypal, email me (Christmasblssng@gmail.com) and we can work it out.  I've had a few friends wanting to donate gift cards as well- any way that you give will be welcomed!

Being a Blessing

I have a friend named Rachel.  Rachel is sweet and witty and kind and insightful and supportive and encouraging and smart and loving and giving and well, the list could go on and on.  Rachel is one of my most dear, closest friends.  She is "that" friend, the one that you can talk to about anything and everything in the world.  She is "that" friend, the one you can call when the choices you've made weren't the greatest, and instead of passing judgement, she will love and support you.  She is "that" friend, the one who is always there to lend a listening ear when you need it, to dole out advice when you need it, and to give you a kick in the pants when you need it!  Everyone should have a friend like Rachel. (I know I am so blessed and thankful that I do!!)

The last few years have been rough.  She and I both went through our divorces together.  We've gone through pregnancies together (her middle son is just a few days younger than Ashlyn!), we gone through losses together (we both have babies waiting for us in heaven), we've gone through happy times and sad times, angry times and thankful times, smooth times and rough times.  Right now, its a rough time for Rachel- and I am doing everything I can to be "that" friend for her.

Rachel is a single momma.  She has 3 boys- ages 9, 7 & 5.  3 lively, rambunctious, lovely little boys.  As many of you know, times are tough- but as a single parent, times can be "tougher" on us.  Rachel was having a rough day the other day, so I listened.  She was upset that Christmas is coming and she really has nothing for her boys.  I listened, and my heart ached for her.   But what could I do?  I'm just a single mom on a tight budget as well....

The more I thought about, the more I knew I wanted to do something to be a blessing in a big way this Christmas season.  But again, I knew I couldn't do it alone.  Then the light bulb went off- I have over 300 friends on my Facebook.  If every person gave $1 to this family in need- what an awesome Christmas that would be!!  I know everyone has at least $1 they could spare- I have $1 I could spare (and probably a few more as well).  So, Operation Christmas Blessing 2010 was born!  Read more about what you can do in the next post!!
